Essential Daily & Weekly Planning for Entrepreneurs
“How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.”
I love this quote by Annie Dillard. It is super simple and obvious, but something I know I often overlook.
It’s the actions I take day in day out that will impact my journey to my goals.
But (and it’s a big but) there are always a ton of things on your to do list as an entrepreneur. So how do you stop the weird entrepreneurial phenomenon of always feeling and being ‘busy’ but not actually getting anything off your to do list?
With good planning.
I’m not talking the restrictive, back you into a corner and make you want to rebel time of planning.
I’m talking supportive, energising, can’t wait to get out of bed and start your day type planning.
Read on to discover my top tips to help you devise your own entrepreneur daily and weekly plan.

It takes you through the exact proven steps I’ve used with hundreds of entrepreneurs to get them unstuck and actually building a business that works.
Entrepreneurs daily routine top tip 1: What will move the needle?
I set 5 big goals for each year. I then look at each goal and ask myself what is the thing that’ll really push me to reach this goal?
For example if one of your big business goals is to sell 20 spots on your next course launch, then you need a good sized audience to market your course to. So a push goal would be to get 10,000 people on your email list.
Then each week I look at what I need to do this week to increase my email list. This makes sure I spend time on the things that will actually move me towards my goals.
To make sure I actually do it, I set my top 1 goal for the day and do it first thing when I am most energetic
Entrepreneurs daily routine top tip 2: Schedule in your non negotiable’s
For me feeling healthy physically, emotionally and mentally is absolutely vital to achieve what I want to achieve. Without energy and focus, it is near impossible to reach your potential.
So I have set 4 non negotiable’s that get scheduled into my diary every day and I do them no matter what.
-
To move my body for at least 30 minutes everyday
-
To drink 2 litres of water everyday
-
To fuel my body with healthy, non processed, yummy food
-
To be still for 20 minutes a day – that could be reading, listening to music on my Calm app, staring out the window. Anything that takes me away from doing and into just being
Entrepreneurs daily routine top tip 3: Work in sprints
I have found that I work best in 1 hour time slots with no distractions. I set one task and do not stop until either my hour is up or I am finished.
This helps me focus and avoid interruptions and multitasking which are the villain of being productive.
Studies have shown that once your concentration is broken or you’re interrupted, it takes at least 20 minutes to fully get back to what you were doing. 20 whole minutes when your mind is not quite on the task. Now think how many times a day you get distracted or interrupted and it adds up to a whole lot of wasted time.
I turn off all notifications on my phone and shut all social media and emails when I am in my hour time slots so I am not tempted to change focus.
To cut procrastination I like to set aside time specifically for household chores so that I don’t get distracted by them throughout the day. I also love to book a proper lunch and some breaks in the day so I can re energise.
Entrepreneurs daily routine top tip 4: Be kind to yourself
We are all human and we need to give ourselves some grace when we inevitably have a bad day and our plans get derailed.
I like to plan some blank slots into my diary so that I can catch up if I have fallen behind, it takes the pressure off and quietens the inevitable inner critic having a go about getting off plan.
What does my entrepreneur daily and weekly routine look like?
I wanted to give you an insight into my daily and weekly planned tasks:
On my daily planner:
-
Write down my big goals and really imagine what it’ll feel like when I reach them
-
Decide on my 1 thing to do today to get closer to push goal
-
Support or encourage someone
-
Read or listen to something inspiring
-
Engage in Facebook groups or on Instagram (depending on your main platform) for a maximum of 15 minutes per day
-
Review my appointments and to do list for the next day
On my weekly planner:
-
Review goals
-
Plan week and focus on top priority
-
Write a blog post/produce a video or podcast
-
Do 3 Facebook lives
-
Email my list
-
Pitch for 5 collaborations e.g. podcasts, FB live swaps
-
CEO Power Hour – every Monday I update my tracking spreadsheet
-
Schedule in gym sessions, lunches and any non negotiable’s
Your list may look very different depending on your big goals and your push goals.
This is to give you some ideas and inspiration to develop your own system. It has to work for you, your business, your lifestyle and time availability otherwise it’ll feel restrictive and you’ll end up resenting it.
You want to create a daily and weekly planning system that feels supportive, expansive and energising.
