The visionary stage is all about drawing out the big picture, figuring out the fundamentals and setting yourself up for success.
You don’t need all the fancy tech, you don’t need a bells and whistles website, you don’t need the best branding.
Take this as permission to just focus on taking the big leap and setting your intentions for your business.

step 1 - Step into your visionary role - Now is the time to dream big and wild
Your vision is the powerhouse behind why you do what you do and it drives everything in your business from how you show up, to what you sell and how.
Vision elevates your business from just a money making venture to a purpose driven movement. It is really personal to you and will be your life raft when you feel like giving up (trust me, it’ll happen, I’ve been there)
Questions to help you figure out your vision to start a business online:
- What fires you up about your business idea?
- What impact do you want to have on your clients lives?
- What impact do you want to have on the wider community?
- It’s one year from now, you’ve achieved your business goals, what has happened? And why are you excited about that?
Don’t edit what you write down, just let it flow. Once you’ve got your answers, read them out loud. What puts a fire in your belly and excitement in your heart? What are the common themes in your answers?
My vision is to help women to take ownership of what they’re great at, offer it to the world in a fun and creative way and make money doing what they love.. I believe in the ripple effect of entrepreneurship to positively change women’s lives, the lives of their clients, their communities and the wider world.

I know this can feel really scary, the thought of taking big steps towards your dreams and messing up. But actually the faster you fail the faster you will reach your goals.

As an entrepreneur you’ve got one main job – get your community to find you, love you and buy from you, that’s it.
This is your customer journey and everyone goes through it. It forms the foundation of your business success plan. So if you’re unsure what messy action to take, ask yourself:
- How is my community going to find me?
- How am I going to get them to love me?
- How will they buy from me?
And focus your action on those three key areas. For anything that falls outside of that ask yourself do I really need to be doing this?
For example if you’re a career coach then your community is probably hanging out on LinkedIn (find you), you could create a podcast sharing stories of people who pivoted their career into a completely new field (love you) and have a call to action to buy your career coaching course in your emails and outro to the podcast (buy from you).
Step 3: Tame that Inner Critic
Wow, that inner critic can be harsh. We should really feel sorry for them, they are just doing their job, to keep you safe. But starting a business online means you’ll be doing things outside your comfort zone on the daily and feeling the doubts and worries that go along with that. So this step is about setting yourself up for success.
Nurturing a strong mindset is a lifelong journey but in your visionary stage start by asking yourself
- What would the me who has achieved their goals do in this situation? – and go do that
- Who is the future version of me who has built the business of their dreams? What characteristics does she have? How does she feel? How does she act? – embody that
- What one thing can I do everyday to bring me joy? Do that to nurture your creativity and fuel your energy, entrepreneurship is a long game
The future version of me has boundaries in place that I stick to, no is a full sentence. She is gracious and full of joy. She knows what she wants and is not afraid to go for it. So when I am making decisions I step into that version of myself.
And that’s it, simples!!

From my experience of helping hundreds of businesses get off the group, one of the big differences between the people who build a business they love and those that get stuck in the struggle, is the ability to work out what’s the most important thing to focus on. Then putting the blinkers on and cutting distractions until you have done that thing.
